When using Find Related Messages from Sender, Outlook changes to search all mailboxes

My default sessions in the most current version of Outlook are set to search "current mailbox." It works when I manually search for a sender, but when I use Find Related Messages from Sender, the search box changes to "All Mailboxes" and I get too many results I do not need. Let me clarify that my settings in files>options>search are set to current folder. How can I use this function and limit the search to only one folder?

    Hi @Fran Simon ,
In order to verify your issue, please provide some detailed information:

    1. What detailed version of Outlook are you using?(File > Offie Account > About Outlook)
    2. I'd like to confirm whether your Outlook client has "Current folder" button.

How can I use this function and limit the search to only one folder?

According to my search, no matter what you set the default to, you can still refine any particular search when you need to.

Besides, you can also the keyboard shortcuts "Ctrl+Alt+K" to set your search scope to Current folder.
    Hope above can help you!

I think this is by design. You can certainly change the scope after the initial search has completed, but if you want this default behavior to be changed, best submit an item over at the Feedback portal: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/89a8afa3-2e1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
