VDI Host Clustering

Hi All,

I already have an RDS infrastructure in place offering RDS session hosts to our end users. I'd like to expand this out to also include VDI.

I've built a 4 node HV cluster, running the RDS virtualization role. There are some VDI VMs sysprepped ready to go, and things like storage / live migration is working well.

How do I add the virtualization hosts to RDS? I've logged into RDS and gone through the installation wizard, but I'm unsure if I should be adding the 4 VDI hosts, or the cluster?

The wording seems to infer that I should add the 4 servers, but how does HA work with live migration? Basically I'm confused how RDS knows where a VDI VM lives. If I add a VM to a VDI collection in RDS, and then it live migrates due to a node failure, will RDS know that?

Thanks.

    Hi @Glen Harrison

How do I add the virtualization hosts to RDS?

These servers should be upgraded all at once. Follow the following steps to upgrade:
    -Log off all users.
-Turn off or save all virtual machines on each host.
-Upgrade the servers to Windows Server 2016.
-All collections should be available and functional after the upgrades are complete.

The wording seems to infer that I should add the 4 servers, but how does HA work with live migration?
