how to get backup devices into ready status from "The device is not ready. (0x80070015)" all drives, but only for windows backup

Question

I have windows 10 installed, have had it for more than two years, ever since i built this computer.

I have had an issue for a while now where the backup did not complete successfully, i didnt really care enough to investigate until now though, i want to try windows 11, but i want a backup of my current to go back to if there are issues in 11.

every time i try to back up or create a system image with windows, it fails, and the error is "The device is not ready. (0x80070015). i get this error no matter which drive i try to use, 3 different internal drives and two external, i have looked the error code up and the gist of the solving of it is, unplug the usb and plug it back in. this would make sense if it was just one drive, and that one an external one. this is every drive, using backup or create a system image. i have down loaded a trial of paragon back up and it works flawlessly, but i still would like to fix this.

I can access all the drives otherwise with no issues (that i know of)

if this was just one drive, i would think the drive had failed, but it is every drive i have.

i have updated all the system drivers and motherboard firmware, and still the issue persists.

if anyone has any ideas or tools to use i would appreciate it. thank you for your help and time.
