How to compress a GDIPlus hbitmap?

Im storing some hBitmaps into memory to reduce speed/cpu use in some animations, however these hBitmaps are using too much of ram.

Would like to ask what options i have to reduce their size in ram?

Maybe use the Bitmap class and call its Save or SaveAdd function to store the image to a memory stream using a compressed image format. To create the stream, use SHCreateMemStream. If the original compressed images are stored on disk, then simply copy the files to memory streams. To restore the image, rewind the stream using IStream::Seek, and use Bitmap::FromStream or the constructor. This will probably reduce the speed.

"hBitmap" is GDI, not GDIPlus
hBitmap are generally not kept in memory (created, used, then deleted (DeleteObject))
For animations, GDI or GDI+ must be avoided; use Direct2D instead (ID2D1Bitmap), which uses the GPU instead of the CPU (hardware acceleration)

If ram amount occupied by bitmap impacts performance too much, please consider adding more ram to pc and using ssd hard disk to store bitmap for buffering. There is always hardware limitation that can't be overcome at software level.
