why was VM automatically deallocated

My VM had been stopped. I saw this message in the Activity Log:

Virtual Machine is evicted using eviction policy: Deallocate

What is this? Why did it happen and how can I stop it from happening?
I find it disappointing that I have to post this here since my basic plan does not allow me to raise support tickets.

    Hi @John ,

The VM is a "Spot VM"?

Please take.a look here for details and information related to the Eviction Policy, what it is and how it works: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/spot-vms
