I can no longer insert a chart in my version of Excel Professional Plus 2021.

Buttons are visible and not greyed out

Table with data is selected

Format Cells set on Number

Worksheet is not protected or shared

Objects are not hidden (the Advanced option For objects, show: is set to All)

I cleaned up the ...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel folder

I run Repair, Reset and rebooted the computer

The issue is happening on existing workbooks and new workbooks.
I set up a simple table 3 rows/2 columns to create a chart, but nothing happens.
No error message is displayed. The Chart simply does not get created.

Do you have an idea of what might be the problem?

Thanks,

fernando

    Hi @fblasi ,
Did you install any updates recently?
Did all kinds of Chart cannot be inserted in Excel?
Did the layout of Chart is visible in Excel?

I suggest you try to open Excel in safe mode running the following command: Press Win + R, type "excel /safe" in the blank box, press Enter. If it works fine in safe mode, please check the add-ins in your excel and disable them.
Click File > Excel Options > Add-Ins on the left side of the dialog. Then click the drop-down arrow at the bottom of the dialog box and select "COM Add-Ins" from the list, then click the GO button. What comes up is a list of COM-Add Ins that are loaded and running.

Try this method and let me know if the information was helpful. Please let us know if you would like further assistance, I'm glad to help you.

    Hi emizhang-msft,
Thanks for your answer and sorry for the delay in responding.
I tried your approach but does not seem to work. If I enter Excel in safe mode, I have the same problem and charts cannot be displayed.
In the meantime I discovered that if I try to open a worksheet containing charts, Excel tries to repair the file, then when opening the file the charts have been removed. See attached the error messages that I get.
In one of the screens I should see charts, but they get removed.
I have not installed updates, except for the regular Windows updates.

    Thanks again for helping.
    fernando
