Hi,
I am planning to migrate my ec2 linux instance (Ubuntu-18.04.1 LTS) in my AWS to Azure VM using the help of Azure Migrate. I have launched an appliance server with windows 2016 and installed appliance software. And finally I got the mobility service file from the appliance server and moved it in to my ec2 instance and tried to install it there with the following command.

./install -r MS -q

But it gave me an error and the script got terminated

This version of mobility service doesn't support the operating system kernel version (5.4.0-1063-aws) running on the source machine. Please refer the list of operating systems supported by Azure Site Recovery : https://aka.ms/asr-os-supportthe following command

Please see the attached images for my source machine's configs

The mobility service software I used is : InMage_VX_9.47.0.0_UBUNTU-18.04-64.tar

So what should I do now?

Hello @Jithin M V Thank you for reaching out to us!

Unfortunately, the kernel version, we do not support the -aws flavor of the kernel. Please take a look at this link: Discover, assess, and migrate Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 VMs to Azure - Azure Migrate | Microsoft Learn (first bullet point) and check out the supported operating systems linked in that paragraph.

This workload will not be supported by Azure Migrate. I believe if there are ways to update or change your kernel, you could make this scenario could become supported. I would recommend working with AWS for something like this.

Sorry I don’t have better news, but that’s just the reality of the situation! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
