Azure AD sync not found

Question

Azure AD Sync (installed on server 2012 R2) stopped working. Microsoft support requested we uninstall and install newer version 1.6. After uninstalling the older version (1.????), rebooting and installing new 1.6 version we get an error " Service ADSync was not found on computer" and everything stops. We tried uninstalling, rebooting, and installing again but that did nothing.

Thank you for reaching out to us. After reviewing the above trace logs, i see old version of Azure AD Connect is still present on the server.

Did you follow the solution mentioned in this article - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/active-directory/troubleshoot-aad-connect-fails-to-install-upgraded-version

Let me know if the issue still persists.
