I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but I have spent time off and on over the past 3-4 weeks trying to troubleshoot this issue. The solution makes me a little angry.
There is a difference between the versions of "Microsoft Remote Desktop" available in the Microsoft Store and the one listed in the Windows documentation for "Remote Desktop Services". There really should be a warning or alert that says not to use the version of the application available through the Microsoft Store when using Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365.
I administrate a group of Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop devices. Some of our users were experiencing:
- Inability to share screen from AVD media optimized Teams desktop application.
- When they reverted to sharing from the web application of Teams the remote end of the call received an echo that made audio worthless.
What I have found is the versions of "Microsoft Remote Desktop" are:
As soon as we had the users remove that Store version of the app, and install the other version all issues vanished. This doesn't seem to be an issue on MacOS as only one version is available through the App Store. Why is the Windows Store offering a different app and why isn't there a clear warning in the store stating that version isn't compatible with W365 or AVD Teams.
