Teams Channel folder and SPO folder rename

Hi experts,

Is there is a solution to rename SPO folders in the doc library associated with a Team, to match the new name of the re-named associated channel without breaking the links and Posts/chat or any other app data?

Tried renaming the channel, then deleting it and renaming the SPO folder and then creating the channel to match with the SPO folder name to sync. But I lost all messages in the channel, chat/ app data. is there any other solution or script to update the SPO folder to match?
I'm aware that MS is rolling out the feature for new channel renaming that will update the SPO folder.

Thank you,

Regards,
MS

Hi @ms-5605 ,

Welcome to Q&A Forum!

The link below can help you solve the issue:

Also note that you can't change the name of the General channel—that default channel is always called General and is always the first channel in the list.

Thanks,
Echo Du

Sorry for the delay. I did a test by deleting the Teams channel and renaming the SPO folder and then created the channel to match with the SPO folder name. It works But i lost the Posts and data related to the apps.
looks like we don't have any other option other than deleting the delete and recreating the channel.

Thank you so much.

MS

That solution does not work.
Please show a new solution that works in 2022.

We're using a Mac, a PC, latest versions of MS Teams and SharePoint 365 in a browser, and the old solution linked above does not work.

I'd like to know if this still works as well. I've deleted the channel but I get an error in SPO when I go to rename it. It says I need to change the channel name in Teams. I'm stuck at the moment.
