Microsoft Teams Latency Question

Hello,

I was in a meeting at work and we were having unusually high latency causing many of the participants to be unable to be heard even when not muted. I found a source online which states that meetings are hosted in the datacenter closest to the first joiner, it also states that if the first joiner is in a location far from the other joiners, the meeting will be hosted in a suboptimal location. Is this a likely cause for unusual connectivity issues if the first joiner is in, for instance, India, and the rest of the team is in the United States?

Do you have the same problem in Teams web client?

If you Microsoft Teams meting have high latency, it recommends you use the CQD to check the Jitter and packet lost rate. For most situation, the following factors may cause your poor call quality:

Incomplete firewall or proxy configuration

Poor Wi-Fi coverage

Insufficient bandwidth

VPN

Inconsistent or outdated client versions and drivers

Unoptimized or built-in audio devices

Problematic subnets or network devices
