Exchange 2019 Meta Cache Database MCDB
Hi,
We are building and configuring 4 Exchange 2019 servers with 5 x 10TB HDD in each. There are 20 databases with 5 active on each server.
The recommendation is to have 1 MCDB SSD disk per 3 HDD disks. So the Exchange calculator recommended 2 x 1.92 TB SSD.
So far we only have 1 x 1.92 TB SSD for each of the servers due to the worldwide chip shortage.
I have a few questions:
Am I still able to configure the MCDB with one disk or is there no point and it could introduce problems?
If it's ok to start with one MCDB disk is it possible to add another at a later date and how is this done?
Does anyone have any experience of using MCDB and is it worth it?
If I can't realistically use the one disk, would it be possible to create another database (so we would have 21 active) and maybe use it for the journal database. I'm not sure if this will ruin the balance of active passive databases and if even possible as all the other databases are using HDD rather than SSD.
Regards,
Matthew Ridley
