Hi,

I am creating a Patch Tue ADR. I have a "Windows Updates 2022" Package. I specify my ADR to use that package.

My question is, coming next year 2023, will I just created a new 2023 package and edit my existing ADR to use the new package, and so on for every year? or will I have to create a new ADR every year?

Thank you!

Up to you really. There is no single way to approach this. You can create new package and update the existing ADR or create a new ADR altogether. Doesn't really matter as long as the rules in the ADR meet your requirements and it executes without any errors.

In case you are referring to automatic deployment rule, the rules are not time dependence but they are policy dependence. In some cases you might create ADR rule and keep it for few years as the currently we have updates on specific days each months. However, sometimes they are emergency updates which you may deploy them manually or sometimes you might change rules because of new requirement or company policy. For example, company might be running important project and wants you to postpone update. Another scenario is like Microsoft might change the update policy in future. It is hard to predict what is ahead but I advise you to be familiar with ADR and plan for any changes and get ready for it.

    Hi, @MinaTran-2950

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

You can use the package continuously regardless of year.

Here is a great article about how to use ADR better, hope it is useful to you:
