Group Policy Update and Hyper V vEthernet disconnects

I am running a Linux VM in Hyper V and was noticing that every so often my open ssh sessions were getting disconnected for no reason. After tracing all connections I narrowed it down to the connection being disconnected during GPO updates. I can reproduce by running gpupdate /force. This does not affect any ssh sessions running on WSL1, it only affects ssh connections using the Hyper V vEthernet adaptor which also means WSL2 connections are reset as well. I have also proven this by running a constant ping on an address and running the GPO update. During the update the ping returns destination unreachable for a few iterations, twice as shown in the screen shot.171415-vethernet-disco.jpg

Is there anything I can do to stop these disconnects?

    Hello @Casey Sease

When the behavior is consistent and reproduceable in most or 100% of cases, the recommendation is directly communicate the Bug to Microsoft through:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-do-you-report-an-issue-or-bug-a318252f-cc24-4e95-bec9-71bd2dbc379d#:~:text=To%20help%20us%20investigate%20the,Help%20%26%20Feedback%20%3E%20Contact%20Support.

Hope this helps with your query,
