Hello

Not sure if this is forum is the correct place for this question. We’ve tried a number of other forums / lots of searching, but cannot find an answer.

Our team has been having an issue with a chart created from a pivot table. Data source is a SQL server 2012 dB. The value on the x-axis (blue bars below) is a date type in the dB and CAST as a Date in the underlying query.

We can format the date on the pivot table (blue bars below). The problem is that we cannot format the date on the x-axis. Right clicking on the field button doesn’t have a number format button option.

If I create a chart based on data from a regular excel table (Yellow bars below), the axis inherits the formatting from the table.

Is this a known bug with pivot tables, or are we missing something?

Thanks in Advance

    Hi @ron barlow

I had a similar, but not same, question and found this post looking for the answer. My x-data is not a date, so this may not help, but try going to the pivot chart's "Field's" pane, click the drop-down menu for the x axis category, and click on "Field Settings". 186961-snag-a519443.png

Then click on "Number Format" and choose the desired format. That's how I changed the decimal places from about 8 million to 2, so I think it should help you as well. Let me know if that works/ is what you were looking for!!
