Migration of RDS 2012R2 to new RDS 2019

Hello,

We currently have a 2012R2 hyper-v, with 2 hosts : 1 DC 2012R2 and 1 RDS 2012R2.
There are 35 users (with CAL and CAL RDS); using local profiles (on PC and RDS) and redirected folders (Desktop, Documents...) on the DC.

We will soon replace the hypervisor with a new Windows 2019 std server (maybe Windows 2022).
Installation of the new DC (2019), integration in the domain, promotion... won't be a problem.
Data migration (including redirected folders) won't be a problem either.

What concerne us most is the migration of the local profiles of the current RDS to the new one (we will purchase new CAL RDS for this server).

Is there any guideline to migrate local user profiles ?

Or do we need to re-create them 1 by 1 ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi @Bernard Coudron

Migrating local user profiles to domain user profiles is an easy-to-follow process. You simply copy the data from the local profile to the domain profile folder. There is no direct in-place migration from RDS in Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016. Instead, for most of the RDS components, you first upgrade to Windows Server 2016 and then migrate data and license

Here is a link for a detailed description of the process that you must follow.
