Feature Updates - How much free disk space is required (1909 to 20H2)

Hi all,

I have a question regarding feature updates, how much free disk space is needed to install the Windows 10 20H2 ENT feature update? I have been looking to get a concrete statement from Microsoft articles but I am struggling to find one. Can someone provide me with a link with the recommended free disk space?

This is the best information that is readily available:

At least 16 GB of free space must be available on the system drive to upgrade a 32-bit OS, or 20 GB for a 64-bit OS.

Do you need to create free space on the disk drive or is it an academic question?
Is it a failure to upgrade situation?

We have needed to free up some space on a number of workstations as they failed due to low disk space. We are running reports on all machines to check which machines do not have enough space to allow us to pre-empt machines from failing to install the update, but I do not know what the minimum free space is to know how many machines will fail to install the update..

Thanks Docs,

Unfortunately the feature update isn't available in the Microsoft catalog, so I can't the free disk space from that. Thanks for the articles on how to free up space they are very helpful. However it would be great if I could get something official on how much space is required prior to updating?
