Azure M Series Infrastructure Maintenance

Hi Experts,

I was going through the Azure infrastructure maintenance for the M series and a statement here says
"Live migration is an operation that doesn't require a reboot and that preserves memory for the VM. It causes a pause or freeze, typically lasting no more than 5 seconds. Except for G, M, N, and H series, all infrastructure as a service (IaaS) VMs, are eligible for live migration."

My query is that if live migration is not available for the M series, does it mean the VM will ultimately be rebooted on the host.

    Hi @SholaLawani-3394,

Thanks for the community question. Your interpretation of the doc is correct. Because G, M, N, and H Series VMs are ineligible for live migration they will ultimately be rebooted on the host. Specific information on our M series offerings can be found here.

If reliability is your primary concern I'd advise you to take a look at some of our other offerings. Over 90 percent of the IaaS VMs deployed in Azure are eligible for Live migration. This doc illustrates our VM offerings. Thanks again for the question, if this is a good answer please mark it as accepted to aid other community members and have a nice day!
