Hidden textbox

Hi,

I created a new template based on another template I had created for another client (as it had certain functionality that I wanted to retain).

In the new template, I have discovered through the Find function (not the Find and Replace dialogue box that you get when you press Ctrl+H but the left-hand side bar you get when you press Ctrl+F) that it has retained a text box that I used in the previous template's footer, which contains the old client's details (I happened to be searching for a double space using Ctrl+F and that's how I came across the issue). I know it's a textbox because it says so in the Find bar (it says "Textbox:" followed by the old client details).

I can't see this text box at all -- that is it's not visible in either the main document or the headers or footers, and I can't find it using the Find and Replace dialogue box (Ctrl+H), so I can't replace/delete it using this function. The only way I can see the text that is contained within this text box is through the Find function (via Ctrl+F).

I really need to find and delete this text box from the template. Can anyone tell me how to find and delete this hidden textbox?

Many thanks,
Sam

This is a prime example of why you should not use one document as the basis for another document! Use templates for your new documents that do not contain such things.

You can use the Document Inspector to remove such information.

Every section of a document has three headers and three footers, whether or not they are ever displayed. See my recap of header and footer settings: http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/sections2007.htm#Recap_of_Header/Footer_settings.

Thank you Charles. Yes, I can see that now (I had a style ref field in the footer but was just being lazy and wouldn't do that in future). I'll give that a go.

    Thanks again,
    Sam
