Print Queues

Question

Hi All,

we are just embarking on a migration of all our current print queues to a new updated server.

I would like to copy the queues over using the Export printer to a file option in print management. Save to a network share and use the import printers from a file on the new server.

Its my belief that during that process I will be presented with an option to exclude the printers from displaying in AD. Meaning I will not duplicate the current printer in AD from the previous server.

My questions are..

• Will the current print queues remain on the old server and carry on working after the export. This is imperative.
• How can I begin bringing these server online in the new server environment?

Any information or help in this process would be greatly appreciated.
