Cloud voicemail from on-prem PABX

Hi,

I am considering shifting our on premises voicemail server to Office365. We are running Cisco Call Manager Express as on on prem PABX and do not use Skype for Business. I have been reading about cloud voicemail at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoftteams/set-up-phone-system-voicemail

My use case is opening a SIP session to Office365 from our call routing setup in Cisco CME, the voicemail greeting played by Office365, the caller recording a voicemail message which then lands in an Office365 user's mailbox. It would also be good to have an ability to access voicemail by pressing the voicemail button on our Cisco telephone handsets but delivery to their mailbox would suffice so this is not essential.

Guidelines for what I am looking for are at https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/unified-communications/unified-border-element/215443-integration-guide-cube-office-365-out.html

I have read however that "Exchange Online UM support for third-party PBX systems via direct connections from customer operated SBCs will end in July 2018." - does this imply that my above solution will not work, i.e., I cannot directly open a SIP session to an O365 endpoint to deposit voicemail messages?

Thanks,
Peter

    Hi!

According to your description, this issue is more related to Cisco Manager Expresss, which we do not support. In order to get better response, we recommend you contact Cisco supporter to verify if this solution works for you.

In Skype for Business, if you want to connect to the Microsoft Cloud Voicemail service, you should firstly deployed hybrid connectivity between on-premise and online environments. Then on-premise user must enabled for Enterprise Voice and Hosted Voicemail in Skype for Business Server. For more details about it, you can refer to:
