Standalone DFS-Namespace server, dual names?

We’ve a Windows server 2019 named DFS-01 with standalone dfs-namespace which was migrated from DFS-02.
There’s no dfs replication setup.
Now I’d like have the DFS shares accessible via both names \DFS-01\root\folders as well as \DFS-02\root\folders.

These DFS-N on Win2019 are accessed via Win2k3 and up Operating systems.

What is the best way achieve it?
If I create a CNAME record as DFS-02 for DFS-01, will that work properly?
Or will adding an alternate name as DFS-02 on the server using netdom be better way to do it and will it work ?
Has anyone tested and worked with any of it ?

    Hello @Yankee30

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

I can understand you are having query related to DFS Name space DNS settings.

Please note that DFS is tightly integrated with Active directory ,so its configurations as well.
You can create CNAME record of your OLD DFS-2 server to point to DFS-1 server. and it should be worked.

But I would suggest you to consider only for temporary purpose until your completely get rid of DFS-2.

Hope this answers your question :)
    Thank you.
