Feature to determine whethere someone is a IC, M1, M2?

I am building a feature for my team to get the GEM Alias given a user alias.
Is there a feature to determine whether someone is an IC, M1, M2,etc.?
Or is there a feature to directly get the GEM Alias given a user alias without going through the management chain?
