MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB925672) installation error 0x80070490.

Question

Hi, I've got a machine (W10 LTSC 1809) with such an issue (see the subj). I tried to clean up the contents of the softwaredistribution folder - doesn't help. Tried the Update Troubleshooter, but it did not resolve the issue in my case. Ran a SFC /Scannow command as admin, followed by a (Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth) - no luck there. Lastly even manually reset window update components.

After trying all that I still continue to receive “ An error occured during the installation of assembly
component (DE986363-4906-A6E7-A06B-D6B9ABF34537}. RESULT: 0x80070490.” when attempting to install MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB925672).

Any help will be appreciated!

Unfortunately Microsoft stopped supporting MSXML 4.0 after 2014, and the supported version was only the SP3, meaning that previous versions would render problematic and were already not supported even during the lifecycle.
