Failover clusting s2D question

We are looking into setting up a S2D cluster and had a question on the host OS drives. Since it's recommended to use an HBA and not a raid controller what are most people doing with the OS? Are you just installing the OS on a single drive? Or are you installing it on a drive then using Windows to mirror the OS drive to a second?

We are looking at using Dell PowerEdge R740s as the physical boxes.

Thank you
