My laptop is presently installing Windows 10, version 2004. It started 27 hours ago and at the moment the install status is 74%.

The laptop is directly connected to the router via ethernet cable
Apps are closed down, although I xant6speak for things running in the background.
Broadband is normal - 34 Mbps download and 6Mbps upload.

Any thoughts?

Definitely is not normal. Might try the update trouble shooter.
