Differences between Exchange Online and O365 Family Outlook?

Hi,

I currently run an [old] Exchange server to provide family email (Outlook, OWA and mobile activesync) using my own domain name and am looking to move to a cloud solution.

From a cost POV I'd rather move to O365 family but I need to know what the functional differences are between O365's 'Outlook' and Microsoft 365's 'Exchange'?

I don't really need a migration path, I can just do PST exports/imports if needs be.

I'm aware that O365 only integrates with GoDaddy but apparently there is a way around that so I can keep using my existing registrar and DNS hosts (https://www.reddit.com/r/Office365/comments/ft15pk/use_personalized_domain_with_outlook_and_office/).

What, if any, spam filtering is provided with either plan?

How do you deal with SSL certs for own domains on O365? Is there an IIS interface (as I don't believe either has web hosting)?

Thanks

    Hi @Ash Ridley ,

M365 Family plan (For Home) is providing multiple Tools that you and your family can use:

    • Office products (Word - Excel - Outlook - PowerPoint)
    • Teams
    • OneDrive Storage

For all details please have a look at the full plan here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ww/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products-b?market=af

Home solutions do NOT provide you an Admin Page where you can interact and customize your domain / DNS / Exchange rules etc,.. only with M365 For Business you can do that

Using the Home plan, each user (member of your family) can interact with the settings of each application but you do not have currently a way to manage them in a centralized way AFAIK.

    Hi @Ash Ridley ,

Out of curiosity I went to double check again and you were right! My apologies :)

I found the settings under the Premium Tab in Outlook but it doesn't let you choose another registrars, only GoDaddy seems to be allowed
