Sharepoint Migration Tool Fails During Install

When I try to install the migration tool for being able to migrate on-prem shared files to Sharepoint Online, it asks for my M364 user name and password, and then comes up and says install failed. I haven't used this tool before, so it is the latest version of the tool, though it hasn't actually tried to install anything.

I am the global admin for the M365 account, so am also the Sharepoint Admin. I am also the global domain admin on the server, though it hasn't got that far yet. I also have admin rights on my computer. The error isn't to helpeful, and the website just says to make sure you have the latest version of the program.

    Hi @Jon Mercer ,

Are you using Migration Manager in SharePoint admin center? Have you tried to use SPMT? You could try to use Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) as a workaround. The SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) is a free and easy to use migration solution to help you migrate content from on-premises SharePoint sites to Microsoft 365.

You could Install the SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) here. Then create a migration task with SPMT.
