HyperV windows server 2003

Good morning,

I have a relevant question. A company installed on my dell poweredge 2900 server with windows 2012 r2 operating system the hyper v program. When installing this program it created a virtual machine where the windows 2003 server is installed (the same server that had broken down before installing the Dell poweredge 2900).

The server is only for the moment for me and some colleagues to access files by drive mapping on other normal computers.

When turning off the virtual server with windows 2003 server and leaving the Dell powerdege 2900 server on, we were unable to connect to the mapped drives, that is, to the files inside them.

And of course when we turned off the dell poweredge 2900 server we couldn't either.

My question is, how is the virtual server 2003 sever configured?

Are you connected to some other virtual server, cloud as a backup?

At the moment I wanted to fix it with the DELL server for the corner and instead of it having a normal Windows 10 computer and doing the drive mapping equally but with only 2 programs, which is what I need. The remaining files go to a cloud.

The goal is for windows 10 to do exactly the same as the server, ie map disk drives, where these contain two programs, accounting and invoicing.

Is this possible ? Do I need hyper v installed on windows 10?

Sorry for so many questions but I'm inexperienced in this matter.

I await your reply.

Carefully,

Daniel

Sounds like the resources are on the 2003 instance.

My question is, how is the virtual server 2003 sever configured?

It is simply a virtual machine that runs on the 2012 host.

goal is for windows 10 to do exactly the same as the server, ie map disk drives, where these contain two programs, accounting and invoicing.

then you'll need to install the same application on windows 10 and setup the same shared resources. May need to ask the application developer if they have a windows 10 compatible versions of the two programs.

just export hyper v 2003 (from the 2012 host) and import it to hyper v on windows 10, with all the same settings?

    Yes, it should work fine.
