How to extend package reference properties?

Using the "VSLangProj.PrjBrowseObjectCATID.prjCATIDCSharpReferenceBrowseObject" CATID, it's possible to extend the properties of normal assembly references with custom properties.

We would like to do the same for PackageReference NuGet package references, but don't know which CATID we need to use for that.
Could somebody please help us, and maybe explain how we can figure this out ourself in the future?

Hi, what is your project type? Which version of Visual Studio are you using? Have you checked the document: VSConstants.CATID Class?

Hi AnnaXiu, the project type is just a regular C# project, with for instance the Newtonsoft.Json NuGet package that was added as a "package reference".
Visual Studio version is 2019-2022.
We have checked the document you are linking to, but none of them seem to work for package references. We were only able to extend the properties of files and simple assembly references.

Sorry for my delay reply. I think there is no CATID that meets your requirement.

Does that mean we cannot add custom properties to package references?
