Generally, I prefer to download media and run the Setup from the ISO file. That may not resolve the issue, but maybe the error message will be slightly less opaque.

I tried removing all files from registry but still I am getting this error, is there any other way I can use sql server?

Did you download the ISO as I suggested?

If you did, and you got the same error, please upload detail.txt which is found in the same folder as summary.txt. Beware that a new folder is created for each install attempt.

I don't have much idea about this error, but apparently there is a mismatch between your MSI installation and the installation media. That is, you somehow has an old and outdated version of MSI. How that could happen, I don't know.

One way to work around this problem is to create a virtual machine and run SQL Server on the VM.

Select the option Download media. Then double-click the ISO and off you go.

Hi @Raman R ,

Here are the steps to uninstall cleanly.

Remove all SQL Server components from 'Programs and Features'

Backup the registry

Delete the following keys in regedit:
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server

Reboot the machine
In addition, please use an administrator account to reinstall SQL Server on your computer(Right click->run as administrator).

Database Engine Services module was causing problem so I searched and found that the path should be changed while configuring, so I changed it to "NETWORK SERVICES", and then it was installed.

Don't piggyback on old threads, but start a new thread, describing your problem from start to end. The symptoms may be the same, but the underlying reason may be different. When you post, include summary.txt and details.txt. I also recommend that you download the ISO file and install from the ISO.

If you don't understand the solution, it could be that while you have similar symptoms, the actual cause is different. I suggest that you follow house rules and ask a new Question. Attach summary.txt and details.txt and also the SQL Server errorlog if you have it.
