Looking for books covering current Xamarin.Forms version

Question

I'm new to Xamarin.forms. I'm on Mac and know c#, xml and Visual Studio. I'm looking for recommendation regarding books covering the current version of Xamarin.Forms.

I tried two books so far. The first one was Creating Mobile Apps with Xamarin.Forms by Charles Petzold but found it was outdated. As a beginner, it becomes confusing, frustrating and time consuming to try to get the code working than learning about Xamarin.forms so I gave up on that book.

Then I tried Xamarin in Action by Jim Bennett. I got excited because thought I can kill two birds in one stone as this book covers MVVMCross Framework. Well, soon I found out that MVVMCross template that author is using don't work because they are outdated. This was published in 2018. So that was another frustrating experience. I wasted more time trying to fix and get things working than learning to become productive.

Are there any books or online resources for beginners to learn about current version of Xamarin.forms? I prefer book because they are more streamlined.
