DHCP leased two addresses to a single NIC

After upgrading the Domain Controllers from server 2012 r2 to server 2022, there is an issue with DHCP handing out two leases for wifi and wired NICs. Though that is not the issue the issue was that DHCP would override DNS record with the IP address not in use every 15 minutes. The new issue is that we have a device with only one NIC that has been leased with 2 DHCP IP's. One expires in 4 days and the other in 7.

For two network adapters it makes sense but why or how would DHCP lease two for the same adapter?

    Hello @Rockwell, D

The DHCP leases work with MAC addresses, and it will not be possible to assign 2 different IPs to the same NIC(MAC) however, you may check if you have other connections, such as VPN, Wireless, other Miniports, etc... as this may be cause of the IP duplication.

I would help if you could share an output of IPCONFIG /ALL from one of the affected machines

Also, dont forget to check in the DHCP server Event Viewers for errors/warnings related to DHCP as this can give a wider understanding if there is an issue.

Hope this helps with your query,
