Hello all,
Recently my android phones software bugged out so I had to seek out a professional's help to install a fresh OS. The thing is all my data has been wiped out.
So I installed MS Authenticator app on the new OS and successfully logged in. But the thing is that it's all empty, there are no accounts. I cannot use the codes as there are no accounts.
What should I do? Can anyone please help me recover my accounts as they are very important? I do not even have any backup codes as I had been using ms authenticator for many years
Thank you

You can restore from backup (assuming there was one) but make sure no accounts have been added to the newly install app. Then sign on with recovery account to do the restore.

You can recover your account credentials from your cloud account, but you must first make sure that the account you're recovering doesn't exist in the Microsoft Authenticator app. For example, if you're recovering your personal Microsoft account, you must make sure you don't have a personal Microsoft account already set up in the authenticator app. This check is important so we can be sure we're not overwriting or erasing an existing account by mistake.

Thank you for the quick reply. I went through the link and my experience was not the same. I was asked to login directly. It asked me whether it is a personal account or work/school one. When I tapped personal, it asked me for email and then I input my password. I am 100% positive that there was no option or button that asked me to "recover". Anyways when it did login, the only account that was there was the microsoft account. That microsoft account had it's code showing up. But I had around 6-8 accounts and it's the first login I did. Does this mean that my data has already been overwritten?
As I said there is no way I missed the "recovery" option, as there was none. Any advice?
    Thanks a lot

Hello, nevermind. I reinstalled the application and the option for recovery showed up. It wasn't there before so there must be some error in previous installation. Anyways I got my accounts back so thank you for such a helpful reply.
    Thanks
