How I can buy windows server 2022 licence for Virtual Machine?

Have physical machine with some cores 16+ (2 cpu 18core each)

Running Hyper-V server 2019 (no windows server installed, this is Free Hypervisor directly on hardware) and some VM on it (ubuntu)

I need VM for some windows server roles. And I create VM with i.e. 10core 20ram.

So, What license will fit to me for this Virtual machine windows server 2022.

Question is about this CORE licenses, physical machine didn't use all it cores to run only 1 VM for WinServer2022.

You can just simply buy a Standard or DataCenter license as needed.

    Some general info

    • Each host needs to be licensed.
    • A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
    • Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
    • Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
    • DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.

So If my HOST is Virtual Machine with 16 vCores

Sorry but it does not work that way. Licensing applies to the physical host machine only.
