Hello Teams Community,

I have a user who reported this issue to us.

They want teams in the browser to default to dark mode for all their users.

Is there a way we can make teams in the browser default to dark mode for all users

    Hi @IBN ,

Is there a way we can make teams in the browser default to dark mode for all users

I am afraid currently it's not feasible. The theme of Teams in the browser is a user specific setting that can be changed by users themselves at present.

On the other hand, the theme setting of Teams desktop client is stored in the desktop-config.json file which is by default located at %Appdata%\Microsoft\Teams:

So if they intended to change the theme of Teams desktop client to Dark for all users, a possible solution is to modify the desktop-config.json file for all users by means of for example PowerShell script.

Our company just pushed out an update.

The last time they pushed out an update, my Teams display converted to a high contrast mode. It did the same this time. It is extremely difficult to focus in dark mode or in High Contrast mode. It seems that there may be an issue with the Windows Update that causes this to happen. As I do not appreciate dark mode, my humble opinion being group policy updates to the config json, as above, may have caused this.

Meanwhile, other than darkV2, there is the suggested mode above "defaultV2". As above, the PowerShell script could be utilized by group policy, but if something occurs, there will always be folks like me that won't be happy with the solution. I personally favor the default mode and become annoyed when something changes my preferences.
