This is Windows Server 2016 with Essentials Role installed. VPN has been working fine for over 2 years. Last week VPN users could not gain access to network resources like mapped drives and RDP to computers. They can connect to VPN just can't access anything.

Eventually I discovered the rasman service will not run or start. It is set to Manual startup. When you try to start the service you get error 711 and it logs the following in the System Log:

Description:
The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with the following service-specific error:
{TDI Event Pending} The TDI indication has entered the pending state.

Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Date: 2/28/2022 4:01:16 PM
Event ID: 7024
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: WM-SERV1.xxx
Description:
The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with the following service-specific error:
{TDI Event Pending} The TDI indication has entered the pending state.

I've researched the Internet and tried just about every solution offered. I can't figure out what a "TDI Event Pending" refers to. Its something with network card drivers. Yes I updated the NIC driver to newest version.

Other than this, the server is working great.

    Hello @Curtis Martell

In order for a VPN connection to work, the "Remote Access Connection Manager" has to be running.

Open Services snap-in by running services.msc command. Make sure "Routing and Remote Access" and "Remote Access Connection Manager" services are running and set their Startup type set to Manual/Automatic.

Also, try removing invalid ipv6 registry entries and run an sfc /scannow.
