Bootable Win10 Drive with BitLocker encryption?

Greetings.

I've loaded Win10 on my SSD drive and then encrypted it with BitLocker.
However, it seems that BitLocker prevents booting from Win10.

Is there any way to allow it to boot, despite being encrypted? Or would I need to find another means of encryption altogether?

What exactly happens when you start the system. Do you see BitLocker startup screen or the Windows 10 boot screen?

No, it simply boots to the stock operating system, that is installed on the internal HDD, rather than my bootable external SSD.

This external SSD, was it installed as "Windows2Go"?
Windows2Go supports being bitlocked and i have used it regularly.

I simply used WinToUSB and loaded Win10 on there, and then ran the BitLocker encryption process.

I never used the inofficial ways to create a usb bootable windows.
Use windows2go (it is no longer supported, but it still works with new versions after you set it up on a supported version and update it), and Bitlocking won't be a problem.
