Embedded Excel table in a Word doc

I'm having a very recent problem. A Word file that I use repeatedly has several embedded Excel tables in them. As of today, when I make changes in any of the tables and click outside of the table, the original chart (with the column and row headings) remains on top, and the revised chart cannot be seen. If I save, close, and reopen, the updated information appears correctly. There are numerous calculations that I need to see in real time, so repeatedly closing and reopening does not work for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Robert Goldzman

    Welcome to Q&A forum ~

    > As of today, when I make changes in any of the tables and click outside of the table,

Have you done any changes for Office before this issue occured?
Such as installing Office updates, or install any 3rd-party add-ins.

Could you please check the Office information?
For Windows releases, please go to File > Account > Product Information, check the version name and version number.

It's recommended to switch the View mode to have a check.
Go to View tab > Views, then change the view mode.

I would also suggest you check whether there is any 3rd-party add-ins enabled, if yes, please disable it temporarily.

Any updates on this issue, welcome to post back.

We are experiencing the same exact issue.

On Office 365 version 2108 Build 14326.20784 we did not have this issue. The issue started o Office 365 version 2202 Build 16.0.144931.20120.

In an attempt to remedy the issue, upgraded to version 2202 Build 14931.20132 with no success.

Please advise an ETA fix. We use this extensively in Word Proposals.

    Here's the fix:

    • Exit all Office 365 applications
    • Launch Registry Editor: Start > Run: regedit
    • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration
    • Change the CDNBaseUrl by double clicking on the name
    • Paste this in the CDNBaseUrl box: http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/7ffbc6bf-bc32-4f92-8982-f9dd17fd3114
    • Afterwards, attempt to update office again and then test
    • To Update Office365:
    • Open an O365 Application (i.e. Excel)
    • Click on File > Account > Update Options > Update Now
    • This may require a restart

Keep in mind that if Microsoft doesn't fix the issue, on the next upgrade, it may break again. We've changed our Office 365 updates to occur every 30 days

If there are a large number of PCs to update perform the following:

Current Channel will be the default selection when you sign into the Microsoft 365 admin center and go to Show all > Settings > Org settings > Services > Office installation options >you can change this to any other option.

    • Change the Microsoft 365 Apps update channel for devices in your organization - Deploy Office | Microsoft Learn
