Visio Crashes when opening file

I have two particular drawings that when I try to open, Visio hangs for ~10 seconds and then crashes. I was able to edit these drawings as recently as a week ago and no changes have been made to my system in that time. I am able to open other drawings and create new drawings without issue. Others are able to open these two particular drawings without issue. I have repaired Visio from the control panel and started Visio in safe mode and neither have helped.
I'm running Vision Plan 2 on Win10. I'd appreciate any help - getting rather frustrated with this. Below is the error message from Windows Event Viewer:

Hello,
I've have the same issue with my Visio 2019 and can't fix it because crashing just after starting the app. Also in safe mode.
A repair "online" is not working better.
When Microsoft is going to publish a fix or workaround for this issue ?
Benoît.
I disabled, and deleted/uninstalled the Bluetooth Drivers for a Bluetooth dongle (and disconnected it from the computer). Based on info I saw elsewhere about this crash.
Then I could use Visio Pro 2021 again.
Iv'e uninstalled the Intel Bluetooth integrated in my laptop (HP) but the problem with my MS Visio 2019 is always present.
Solved for me by Desinstall/reinstall the MS Visio 2019
I tried to un-install and re-install the Visio. Finally your tip saved my day. Good catch. Thank you!
Seems like some serious bug
Deleting the "C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Visio\AutoRecover11.ini" allowed Visio to open and I was able to change File - Options - Advanced in Visio, and checking out the "Disable Enhanced Metafile optimization". Only took a month to figure out the combination of tasks to get Visio open to allow me to make the change.
saved my life.
thank you, this made my day
Thank you! This worked for me as well.
Legend! Don't know how you figured this out, but good on you, also saved my bacon :)

I've got the same problem today after the latest Office 365 update., looks like a bug.
Was able to fix this by going to File - Options - Advanced in Visio, and checking out the "Disable Enhanced Metafile optimization" box to disable this option, under Display.
Give it a try...
You saved my day. Good catch
This resolved my issue as well.
This did the trick. Thank you very much!
Same issue only started occurring today, using Visio LTSC. Changing this option allowed me to open my files.
Microsoft® Visio® LTSC MSO (16.0.14332.20253) 64-bit
This fixed it for me as well. Good tip, thanks!
Same issue. This fixed it.
This also worked for me.
Thanks,
Thank you !!!
Awesome! Thank you so much, it works!
It's been a problem for the past week. I was going to start reloading visio, but thought I would start with troubleshooting the dll error.
Faulting application name: VISIO.EXE, version: 16.0.14326.20852, time stamp: 0x62216cc0

I had 2-3 documents that caused this behavior, other documents opened fine. I always use the Open Dialog from inside Visio.
Checking "Disable Enhanced Metafile optimization" was the solution in my case.
Visio Pro 2019, Version 2108 (Build 14326.20852 Click-to-Run)
Thanks!
In my case, I couldn't even launch Visio. It crashes during launching when trying to recover some previous files.
I had to delete the recovery record from "C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Visio\AutoRecover11.ini".
Then check both "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" and "Disable Enhanced Metafile optimization".
Works.
Had the same problem.
Activating that option and can again open all my visio files.
It works :-). hank you so much.
I've been looking everywhere to get a fix, it is so frustrating you can't open your work anymore.
Had same issue with Visio LTSC Pro 2021. The mentioned solution worked for me. Thank you!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THAN YOU <whew>
Great soultion, thanks for sharing it!
You saved the day (after a few hours troubleshooting with other methods). Thanks!!
Saved my day as well , Thanks so much .
This solution solved my problem. Thank you!
Unfortunately, Visio isn't even staying open long enough to get to File Options - any idea how to achieve this setting through command line options?
Run Visio without opening a drawing, then make setting, then open drawing?
I followed the step mentioned below and clear the cache:

Thanks
See ZhengXiaochen-6267's comment above.
this worked
after clearing the autorecovery file, i was able to open visio and make a new empty diagram. i could open that all the time but when i went to open a diagram with shapes and stuff was failing
after checking the 2 boxes is good again
for sure has to do with the last update as i did not have issue before that.
another half assed update breaking things, i spent 3 days trying to open diagrams.
Thank you. Worked for me as well (Visio 16.0.14326.20852).
Solved my issue
You're a life saver :)

No answer for you but I do have the same issue. Version of Visio is 16.0.14827.20220 - looks like maybe an issue with the update from Patch Tuesday causing this?
I experience this issue. Opening several of my Visio files caused the crash. The fix worked for, though it shoul dbe considered a temporary fix, because, we may need metafile optimization, and, at least for me, it causes all connection points to be turned on all the time.

Edit: My issue is resolved.
I have the same issue with 2 of my users. Visio can startup but as soon as they open a file with network switches, Visio crashes. I will try the above solution.

Hi @tibbler
Please check MarkD-8131's reply is helpful to you first.
Could you please check the version number of their Visio?
Please go to File > Account > Product, check the Version number is the same as yours.
How do you open these drawings?
I suggest you open them from Viso app to have a check.
I also suggest you change the drawing location.
Then please go to FiIe -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Tick the box of "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" -> OK.
Any updates, you can post back.
