According to How to Assign a Custom Icon to a File Type, It‘s the right way to assign a custom icon to a file type. You can set the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\YourProgID\DefaultIcon\(Default) key to specify an application icon assignment.

when open the dialog using "open with...", we can check "always use this app to open .xxx files"
So this exe will be the default app for a file type.
The problem is that the first icon inside the exe will be used as the icon for the file type.
I have several icons inside the exe, how can I tell "open with..." to use my second icon as the icon for the file type?
BTW:
I can change the registry manually to add defaultIcon to specify the icon :
defaultIcon
default, path/test.exe, 1
Is there any other way?
