Application Insights and GET /metrics requests in transactions

The transactions in Application Insights for an App Service instance (.NET 6, in-process, Linux host) is spammed with HTTP GET requests to a link-local address with a path /metrics and port 50050 every ~10 seconds.

This does not happen for e.g. Azure Functions, at least not by default.

What is it exactly and can it be disabled? It clutters up the log. A quick Google search turned up nothing.

    Hi @Veli-Jussi Raitila ,

Apologies for the delayed response. I got confirmation that this behavior is because of Linux App Service attaching Application Insights auto-instrumentation package to dotnet-monitor executable. Our App Service product team is reviewing this settings/behavior further to see if this can be improved. Thank you very much for your patience and for providing this feedback to us.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
