Windows 11 sysprep generalize removes default app Windows Terminal

I am just starting to look at creating an image of Windows 11 for deployment and I have noticed an odd issue.

I have not thoroughly tested this yet, but at the moment I believe that going from Audit Mode to OOBE with generalize seems to remove the Windows Terminal app if the device used to create the image was connected to the Internet during the image creation.

Has anyone else seen this? Is this behaviour by design?

    Hi @Mr M. Smith

I have not personally seen this behaviour. Are you sure you’re not removing the Terminal app during your image creation?

There could also be a version mismatch with Terminal causing it to be removed. You may want to check this:

I do hope this answers your question.

    Thanks.

I'll have to have a good look at that.

I definitely didn't remove the Terminal app intentionally, as in I didn't use DISM to modify the image in any way.

In audit mode I set up a laptop with Windows 11, Office 365, and a few other pieces of software, to be duplicated to other laptops of its type. The laptop did pick up some Windows updates, not an issue I believe. I then used SYSPREP to set it to OOBE with generalize, no answer file required (AFAIK).

After running through the OOBE I find that the Windows + X then A shortcut to Powershell (Admin) could not run the WT.exe.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the OEM parts, I can only access volume licensing items.

Thank you though, the page is still an interesting resource.
