Driver signing techniques other than WHQL/Attestation signing

Hi Guys,

  • WHQL driver signing works for all version of OS like Win8.x and Win10.
  • Attestation signing works for Win10 only.

Background: We have a network driver build using NDIS 5.x and it was signed using CAB signing method in the year 2011 and works well for all the OSs (Win8.x and Win10). It's probably using Authenticode certificate for signing the CAB file.

For WHQL, the NDIS 5.x version needs to be upgraded to NDIS 6.x. So, that's not straight forward option for us.

We would like to explore any other driver signing techniques available other than WHQL or attestation, so that we can support the driver in Win8.x and Win10+.

Appreciate your response.
