Hello....ran into a strange issue that I'm not sure how to fix.

Our school district has Microsoft Wireless Display adapters at various locations. They were connecting to Dell Latitude 3410s up until 3 weeks ago. Suddenly none of them will connect to the display. Sometimes they connect for a second, but disconnect with in 2-3 seconds. All Dell Latitude 3410s are running Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2 (custom image).

To recreate the issue, I imaged 2 laptops, both Dell Latitude 3410s. One with the same custom image, and another with Win 10 LTSC 2019 (also custom image). Installed all the same software, Adobe Reader, Office 2021, VLC, web browsers, Java. The laptop that has the LTSC Custom image can connect with no issue. No disconnects at all. The Enterprise image will not connect, however like I mentioned before, they could connect until 3 weeks ago.

Has anyone come across this issue with these adapters? Maybe a feature update or some type of security update is interfering with it? These are the Wireless Display Adapters with the FourSquare Logo them.

We have the same issue. And we have checked our event viewer and update logs. The only things that would have caused this issue is updates that was pushed out by Microsoft. We have even uninstalled them and it did not help. We have 2 different versions of the display adapter the standard and the 4k model and both do the same thing. They are used in all of out training and conference rooms. They had been working very well all year up until last month. Why can't anyone give us an answer to why they suddenly will not work and then point to something that was installed? This is an update issue on Microsoft's end. So get it fixed.

We have Dell 3420's and have never been able to get these adapters to work. We have provisioned with Intune. I used Wireshark to look at the exchange between the device and laptop, it looks like it is unable create the wifi direct connection. Miracast is supposed to use whatever connection medium is available.

Still looking for answers. Microsoft support gave up.

There are some registry keys that come into play, my working theory is that windows updates pushed out something that changed a reg key value. Windows updates like to change default values in registry keys - a constant headache.

Have you found a fix yet? We have bunch of Dell laptops 5400, 5410, 5420, and 5430. The wireless display adapter has worked for a couple of years without any issues, until 3 weeks ago. Then stopped and none of them will work anymore. We have about 10 of these installed around the office. None of them works now. When connecting I can see the Wi-Fi Direct adapter being created and enabled, then it just disconnects for no reason.

So in our case there were multiple issues.

The first issue was our Cisco Meraki network had Air Marshal set up....which for whatever reason started blocking the laptops broadcast wireless addresses...but only on Windows 10 Enterprise after we started pushing out the feature update. The LTSC version of Windows 10 didn't have any issues....which brings me to the second issue.

There must have been something in that particular feature update that our network just didn't like. I truly have no other explanation why it would work on a laptop that had LTSC, but if I reimaged it to Windows 10 Enterprise, it would stop.
