Azure AD Username Display Shows String vs. Real Name (i.e. 9cb05711-bcd0-4269-a9f6-6a325ba62c83 vs. Jane Doe) For Single-Auth

Hi MSFT Community:

Looking for a solution on this... we have many instances of an Azure AD username resolving to a string like "9cb05711-bcd0-4269-a9f6-6a325ba62c83" rather than the ACTUAL user first/lastname. This appears to manifest only with entries related to Single-Auth, not MFA.

When you click Activity Details: Sign-Ins then click User it resolves on a subsequent page to the true identity behind the string.

How does one resolve this so true username is shown on the event log for sign-ins?

Hi @Michael O'Hara/NYC/US , sorry about the delay in response! This issue looks similar to one earlier this month: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/745783/index.html

Where the user wasn't targeting the correct tenant. Could you please look through that and see if it solves your issue? If not I'll keep looking into this for you.

If this answer helped you please mark it as "Verified" so other users can reference it.

    Thank you,
    James
