Hello,
please help in this issue.
I have Excel files saved to my USB.
Every time I edit and save it, a .tmp file automatically saves and appears in my usb drive.
How do I get rid of this?

    Hi @danqing

If you save workbooks on your local machine, will you find these .tmp files?
Besides, can these .tmp files be deleted manually?

Generally, .tmp files are hidden and automatically deleted after closing the file.

Do you have the option "Hidden items" (In Windows Explorer > View tab > Show) ticked?

Please open and edit in safe mode of Excel:

    • Press ‘Windows key + R’ and type ‘excel /safe’ without quotes and click ok.
Excel will open in safe mode.
    • Open the Excel file stored on USB drive and edit it.
    • Save it.
If there is no .tmp file, then the issue is caused by Add-Ins. Try disabling the add-ins via going to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins > Go, clear the check boxes for any enabled COM add-ins, select OK..

In addition, have you installed any anti-virus software which will cause this issue at sometime.
If so, in the case of trusting the USB driver, temporarily quit the security software to have a check.
