I've got Proliant running Windows Server 2016 running Hyper-V, which is hosting 12 high spec Visual Studio development VM's. Users are reporting that the Windows UI is a bit laggy when they Remote Desktop to their VM's. Is there a way that adding a better graphics card will improve the UX?

    Hello @MikeSussex

That is correct, since the resources from the RDS Host are shared with the RDP connections, there should be a hardware that corresponds with the needs. To verify this, you can try to limit the DPI or Resolution of the users connecting through RDP, and if the GUI is stable then it indicates that a more powerfull GPU is required.

But, before purchasing a new GPU I can recommend the next workaround that may improve the experience:

    • Update firmware of the server and GPU drivers
    • Check in the server powerplan if there is any power limitation, or change GPU profile to "High Performance"
    • Monitor the performance through resource monitor to identify to detect if other bottlenecks are may affect

Hope this helps with your query,
