search function not working on modern sharepoint list page

Hi Team

For some reason the Search function isn't working when we're trying to look for a specific list entry under a modern view.

I've updated the option to "Always index all Web Parts on this site" under Search and offline availability and I'm having no luck.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Harry N Nomikos ,

Please make sure you allow items from this list to appear in search results and allow non-default views from this list to appear in search results.

List settings > Advanced settings > Search > Allow items from this list to appear in search results > Index Non-Default Views > Allow non-default views from this list to appear in search results

And you could reindex the list.

List settings > Advanced settings > Reindex List

Hi @Harry N Nomikos ,

SharePoint will reindex all of the content in this document library during the next scheduled crawl. It takes some time to reindex list, between 15 minutes and 24 hours there is a difference.

Still no change yet. I stumbled across this post and I'm not sure if this would speed up the process by following these steps, but I don't want to delay reindexing..

You could try to enable publishing features, this behavior won't affect list reindex.

If search fuction also not working in other lists, you could try to reindex the site.

Hi @CaseyYang-MSFT

The search function works on one SP list that's no longer is use, but the one is use doesn't work?

I've done a site reindex not long ago, I'm guessing I need to wait 15-24 hours for the next schedule crawl.

I can't see this taking too long as there's less then 4000 list entries.

What else would you suggest?

If your list search fuction still not available after reindex list and site, i would suggest your new a service request in Microsoft 365 admin center for further help.

You could raise a service request in Microsoft 365 admin center > Support > New service request. You need Global Administrator role to access Microsoft 365 admin center.
