Monitoring of deployment status does not update until running actions on client site manually

Hi. Recently we are testing sccm Windows update patches deployment on 10 clients. The deployment was successful but 2 out of the 10 machines still shows "in progress" in the deployment status page. It won't update to "compliant" even after running summerization. The last status time was still the day where we deployed the updates so I am quite sure it is because the machines hadn't report the status back yet. After running all of the actions in the "Actions" tab on the client side manually, the status finally got updated and it shows compliant. I'd like to know why does this happens? And is there anything I can do to prevent similar situation from happening? Thanks

    Just a thought...

For your Software Update Group, Deployment, there is a tab for "User Experience". In there is a checkbox for "If any update in this deployment requires a system restart, run updates deployment evaluation cycle after restart".

If on that deployment you do NOT have that checked, I could see that would results in the behavior you mention. Try checking that box on the deployment, and test again; see if your results are more in line with your expectations.
